Abbot Kinney Festival celebrates Venice

People from all over Los Angeles flocked to Venice this past Sunday, celebrating the 33rd annual Abbot Kinney Festival. From 10-6pm, attendees meandered through Abbot Kinney Boulevard, exploring over 300 vendors and merchants, food trucks, beer gardens and live music. Dedicated to celebrating and supporting Venice, the Abbot Kinney Festival welcomes attendees each year with free admission and countless amenities.

Vendors set up their booths early Sunday morning in preparation for the crowds and busy day ahead.

Vendor, Santa Monica Healing, displays some of its pieces at the festival. Focused on energetic jewels and Reiki healing sessions, Santa Monica Healing’s display drew in customers with its eye-catching presentation.

Folk and country singer, Lacey Kay Cowden took the stage Sunday, performing several original songs including “Walking Song” and “Round and Round.”

Two adolescence stroll into one of the three beer gardens set up for the festival. Decorated with colorful balloons and umbrellas, the beer gardens provide the perfect environment for relaxing, listening to music and drinking beer.

Festival attendees wait in line for Baby’s Badass Burgers, a food truck business started by ex-New Yorker restauranteur Erica Cohen and event planner Lori Barbera. Since childhood, Cohen aspired to create the perfect cheeseburger. The BBB menu now has 7 burger selections.

In part of celebrating Venice, children, teens and adults picked up chalk last Sunday and drew their own designs onto a colorful medallion.

People crowd around the Downtown Dogs food truck after a long day of festivities. Specializing in loaded hot dogs and tater tots, Downtown Dogs does not skimp on flavor.

Festival-goer poses with his freshly cooked 505 Street Tots from the Downtown Dog food truck. These specialty tater tots are dressed in corn, cilantro, Cojita cheese, lime, chile creme and hatch chillies.

Thousands of people crowded Abbot Kinney Boulevard last Sunday, exploring vendors, food trucks and musical performances in celebration of the annual festival.
